A Coffee Lover's Weekend in Amman: The Perfect 48 Hours
Two days, one obsession. The perfect Amman weekend itinerary for specialty coffee lovers — with the Amman Coffee Festival as the anchor.
Forty-eight hours, one obsession. Here’s how a coffee lover spends a weekend in Amman in August 2026 — built around the Amman Coffee Festival (20–23 August, Balsam Grounds).
Day 1: The city’s coffee scene
Morning: Café-hop Amman’s specialty scene. Start in Jabal Amman — there are excellent third-wave roasters within walking distance of each other. Compare a pour-over from one and a flat white from another. Notice the differences in approach.
Midday: Rest through the heat. Amman August afternoons are serious — a good hotel, a long lunch, and a book is the right call.
Late afternoon (Friday doors at 14:00; Saturday at 12:00): Head to the Amman Coffee Festival at Balsam Grounds. Arrive early and walk the entire roasters’ village before it gets crowded. This is where you meet the people behind the cups you’ve been drinking.
Evening: Do a Coffee Cupping Lab session — the guided tastings at ACF are exceptional, run by the roasters themselves. Then settle in for the headline set.
Day 2: Deepen the knowledge
Morning: A slow morning — a single-origin pour-over from wherever you find yourself, something to eat. Reflect on what you tasted yesterday.
Afternoon: Back to the festival if there’s another day to catch. Saturday is Cairokee; Sunday is Hani Mitwasi — more intimate, easier to get close to the stage, and the roasters have more time to talk.
At the roasting station: Watch the Coffee Roasting Experience in real time. If you can, ask the roaster what they’re pulling for and why.
Last coffee: End with something you wouldn’t normally order — a natural process Ethiopian you haven’t tried, or a Yemeni single-origin if one’s available. The best part of being around roasters is the range they’ll let you taste if you ask.
